Having read some other reviews on the hotel website i nearly cancelled the booking altogether so im going to try to be fair! the hotel is a bit tired at the edges for example the bath fixtures have been ripped out so only the shower remains and it looks a mess. The room was small and dark and the pillows were like bricks! however the room was clean and we found the hotel to be quiet. The staff were pleasant for the most part although we were charged an extra £20 to check in before 2pm. It is however very hard to get to if you approach from the wrong direction and some directions prior to arrival would have been appreciated. Its very central so good for walking anywhere you want to get to and there is parking although again with an additional £15 charge. Breakfast was patchy but ok and the bar was shutting at 10pm although to be fair it was almost empty. Only one of the two lifts were working and on the morning of departure there were guests stuck in there for half an hour and its a lot of stairs with no assistance if you needed it! in conclusion its ok we have stayed in worse it was clean, we got a decent nights sleep and it was handy for the wedding we were attending it just felt like it could do with taking a bit more pride in itself with a bill approaching £200 for a nights stay. Maybe with the local premier inn you would at least know exactly what you are getting!.
